The Got The Dot High School Leadership Program empowers students throughout Kern County to become informed advocates for organ, eye, and tissue donation while developing valuable leadership and career-readiness skills.
As students prepare to obtain their driver's licenses, they are faced with an important decision: whether to register as an organ, eye, and tissue donor. Through education, leadership development, and real-world community engagement, Got The Dot ensures students have the facts they need to make an informed decision and share that knowledge with others.
What began as a classroom education initiative has grown into a countywide student leadership movement that inspires young people to lead, serve, and make a difference.
Our Impact
Since 2016, the Got The Dot High School Leadership Program has educated thousands of students and families about the life-saving impact of organ, eye, and tissue donation. Through leadership development, peer education, and community engagement, students are helping create a more informed and compassionate Kern County.
Education - Building Knowledge, Confidence, and Leadership
Students receive education about organ, eye, and tissue donation while developing communication, public speaking, advocacy, and leadership skills that prepare them for future success.
Partnerships - Connecting Students to Community and Healthcare Leaders
Students engage with healthcare professionals, transplant recipients, donor families, and community leaders to gain valuable insight into healthcare, public service, and leadership opportunities.
Community Engagement - Creating Awareness Through Action
Students lead awareness campaigns, educate their peers and families, volunteer throughout the community, and support donor registration efforts that create lasting impact.
Got The Dot students are active ambassadors for JJ's Legacy and play an important role in supporting our mission throughout the year. Through campus clubs, volunteer service, fundraising activities, and community outreach, students gain real-world leadership experience while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Since the program's inception, more than $130,000 has been awarded in scholarships to outstanding student leaders pursuing higher education and careers that positively impact the lives of others.
